TOLEDO, Ohio — The 2021 African American Festival and Parade was held Saturday both through the streets of Toledo and Promenade Park in downtown.

Held annually, the festival and parade celebrates Black culture, history, and excellence. The event was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, but returned with a bang this year. Multiple local organizations participated in the parade down Dorr Street in central Toledo, including Optigo, a black-owned optometry business, Lucas County Children Services, multiple dance troupes and many mayoral and city council candidates.

The event continued to downtown Toledo, where performances were held and food was served at Promenade Park.
