$5 million poised to go to Lucas County-related projects
Local state representative disappointed with the proposed amount of funding.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Lucas County projects are expected to receive $4,975,000 in state funding through the capital budget that’s expected to pass in session this week, as part of Senate Bill 310, but one local representative is disappointed with the proposed funding amount.
Representative Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) says the county deserves, and needs, more funding, as Toledo is the fourth largest city in the state.
“Although I am pleased that dozens of our community’s projects will receive funding, I am disappointed that the amount for was not higher,” said Rep. Sobecki. “Keeping in mind the current pandemic, these projects could be great economic drivers and I feel that Lucas County, home to the 4th largest city in the state, should have been awarded more.
Projects expected to receive funding include:
- Renovations for the Toledo YWCA Building
- The Toledo Zoo Lions, Tigers, and Bears Exhibit
- Toledo Polish Cultural Center
- Jeep Experience Museum
