7 hospitalized after fentanyl makes it into Stryker juvenile detention center
Many questions about how something like this could have happened remain unanswered.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Sunday evening, 7 people, including 4 detainees and 3 corrections officers, were sent to the hospital after they were exposed to fentanyl at the juvenile detention center in Stryker, Ohio.
Jeff Lehman, chief deputy of the Williams County Sheriff’s Department, says there are many ways something like this could have happened. It could have entered the facility by way of mail or someone could have smuggled it in.
There was a large collective response from local law enforcement and EMS crews, including the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Stryker Police Department, Bryan Fire Department and hazmat, Stryker-Springfield Township Fire Department, and Archbold Fire Department. Fulton County EMS crews were also on scene.
As of right now, the investigation into the incident is ongoing and could take anywhere from weeks to months.
