70th Toledo Police Department academy class begins Friday
The cadets will undergo seven months of training.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — This morning at the Toledo Police Department’s academy building on the campus of Owens Community College, the 31-week-long, 70th academy class began.
The class is made up of a few dozen cadets, and I had the chance to speak with one, who says she’s following in the steps of her father, who’s currently on the force.
“After high school, I went to Central State University and I got a degree in criminal justice, so I just wanted to follow that career path, as well, something I was interested in,” explained Deja Waldon. “It’s a challenge I can take.”
The group of 41 was also visited by some local dignitaries, which included incoming chief Michael Troendle.
If you want to join the department, but didn’t make this class, there’s always the chance to try again next year. The details on that can be found at tpdhire.com.
