A look at the preparation ahead of weekend of fun in downtown Sylvania
Many of the vendors have waited a long time to be able to serve the greater community.
SYLVANIA, Ohio — Preparation was underway throughout downtown Sylvania today, as the town’s fall festival kicks off tomorrow. Today, however, was the kickoff of the Nite Light Farmers Market, which takes place on Main St. until 10 p.m. tonight. The event began right at 4 o’clock, with vendors excited to get out and serve the community.
“It’s outstanding. This Nite Lite Farmers Market; it starts during the day, getting all the vendors ready to go, and then it’ll hit dark and the twinkle lights will come on and our vendors are going to have such a wonderful crowd this evening with everyone,” said Tiffany Scott, Executive Director of the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce.
Scott says it’s been a long time in the making for this festival and farmers market, which wasn’t able to take place in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s about a 10-month planning process with our committee. Volunteers, we have hundreds of them, hundreds of hours put in. Our vendors actually register to participate, starting June 1st. So it’s a long waiting period for them, and prepping period as well. So it goes a lot of planning and preparation with our committee,” Scott adds.
But what’s like to see a large concentration of ideas, hard work, and preparation come to fruition? Well, Scott says simply “outstanding”.
“It’s outstanding to watch the community really embrace this event after last year. It’s now two days, which is very exciting. Everybody is thrilled for the whole weekend; the market tonight, and then tomorrow’s full day from 10 to 4,” said Scott.
If you want to come out Sunday, the festival kicks off at 1 p.m. with a parade down Main St. and continues until 10 p.m. with food, vendors, music, a cornhole contest, and so much more!
