Additional bodies found in rubble of Surfside, Florida building collapse
The search will continue into Wednesday.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Tuesday, search crews in Surfside, Florida recovered the bodies of 8 people from the rubble of the collapsed Champlain Towers South condominiums.
Late Sunday, the remaining part of the building not impacted by the collapse was demolished, as officials say it was a lingering threat to search crews, especially with Hurricane Elsa making its way to Florida. Meteorologists say they don’t expect the storm to make a direct hit on Florida’s eastern coast, rather they expect it to impact the Tampa and Fort Myers areas.
Additional updates will be provided as soon as officials have new information.
