TOLEDO, Ohio — On Sunday morning, yet another Toledo youth was taken to the hospital after being shot.

Around 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 3600th block of Hoiles Avenue, near Hillcrest Avenue, the same street where a 7-month-old was shot and killed earlier this month. The two shootings are unrelated.

Upon arriving on scene, officers found a kid who was shot at least once in the back. They were then transferred to a local hospital. There’s no word yet on their condition.

Meantime, one neighbor is opening up about her personal connection to what’s been playing out across the city.

You can watch the story, here.

“We haven’t just experienced it as being in the city, but we’ve also had someone in our family be murdered in the past year,” said Barbara Grant. “To me, it’s awfully recent, considering we just had a shooting down here at the corner, where that little baby was killed. So, to have another one in the neighborhood, it just feels like there’s so much close to home. And it’s getting scary, something needs to happen.”

Neighbor Barbara Grant describes the shooting’s proximity to the site of where a 7-month-old lost her life in late April. (Jaden Jefferson)

If you have any information relating to this incident, call or text Crime Stoppers at 419–255–1111. You may be eligible for a cash reward.

I’ll have more of my conversation with Grant, Monday morning, on YouTube.
