TOLEDO, Ohio — The Glass City Marathon will be held in late April, which is why today the Toledo Roadrunners and Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz jointly declared April as ‘Marathon Month’ citywide.

They saw now is the official start of marathon season, and encouraged all Toledoans to participate, even if they’re not planning on running in the Glass City Marathon, a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

“The best thing we can do is ask people to volunteer. What better way to do this. Earth Day is on April 23rd, so if you care about the community, recycling, we have ways for you to help in that area. We also have youth initiatives coming out to help us do setup,” said Clint McCormick, race director for the Glass City Marathon.

As far as turnout is concerned, McCormick says he expects it to still be down slightly in comparison to 2019, but adds that the attendance and participation will be strong.
