TOLEDO, Ohio — Monday night, members of Sylvania city council, Mayor Craigh Stough and some concerned and some excited citizens voiced their opinions on the potential of a Midwest Shooting Center location near a school and senior living facility.

But in order for this company to open another location on top of their Lima location, they need a special use permit.

There are concerns with this store being near a school and senior living facility, because of a recent uptick in gun violence and because stray bullet incidents can turn fatal, even though there haven’t been any documented reports of similar incidents happening at a Midwest Shooting location.

In response to residents’ concerns, Midwest Shooting says experienced professionals and walls insulated with steel and rubber will prevent any such stray bullet incident. But there are still concerns about the potential of a person with ill intent toward members of the community, who would want to carry out a mass shooting event.
