City of Toledo announces gun buy-back event

TOLEDO, Ohio — The City of Toledo, in partnership with the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office and the Toledo Police Department, will host a gun buy-back event at the Frederick Douglass Center on Saturday, September 10, from 10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m.

Depending on the type of weapon, residents turning in firearms will receive gas cards in the following amounts:

· $100: Hand gun (functioning and nonfunctioning)

· $200: Shotgun, rifle (functioning and nonfunctioning)

· $250: Automatic firearm (functioning and nonfunctioning)

Ammunition will be accepted at the event, however, no monetary value will be given.

No identification or government ID is needed to participate in the program.

All firearms must be unloaded when turned-in to law enforcement, and there are no limits on the number of firearms that may be dropped-off.
