TOLEDO, Ohio — Ohio’s primary election will be held May 3rd, and the only way to vote in it is if you’re registered. So Monday, make sure to register, as it’s the deadline to do just that.

On the day of the primary election, voters will be deciding on their picks for governor, senator, the Ohio Supreme Court, among other things. However, *state* house and senate candidates won’t appear on the ballot, following a directive from Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. LaRose says it’s due to the fact the redistricting process is incomplete, so valid district maps aren’t available. Early in-person voting begins April 5th.

The special election, which WILL include house and senate candidates on the ballot, will be held August 2nd. The deadline to register for that is July 5th, with absentee voting by mail set to begin the following day.

This is all in advance of the November general election, which will occur November 8th. That is when the fate of important issues will be decided and candidates elected. The deadline to partake in what will be a closely-watched election by both sides is October 11th. Absentee voting by mail begins October 12th.
