Fall fun across the Glass City this weekend
Of course, they’re only a small part of all the fun that can be had this weekend!
TOLEDO, Ohio — It is fall festival season, and two of our community’s biggest will be happening on Saturday. Let’s start with the city of Toledo’s, which will be happening in Ottawa Park.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m., activities will include a photo booth, crafts, food trucks, interactive games, and music provided by DJ MPress. Attendees can fill up on candy, cider, and pick up a free pumpkin before they’re gone.
And starting at 7, a movie, Toy Story of Terror, will begin in the style of a drive-in. You can listen through your radio, or bring a blanket and lawn chairs to watch on the grass.
“Be sure to wear your costume and bring your sense of humor and your playful nature. Just come out; we’re gonna have it rain or shine because we do have the open air shelter that provides quite a bit of cover in case of inclement weather,” said Karen Ranney Wolkins, commissioner of parks and recreation for the City of Toledo.
Now let’s talk about the 36th Annual Sylvania Fall Festival, starting of course on Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. What’s different about this event is that it’s two days, and will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — in historic downtown Sylvania.
On Saturday, there’ll be an evening farmers market. It’ll be accompanied by music, vendors booths, and even a corn hole tournament.
Then on Sunday, there’ll be bounce house fun, pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and trick-or-treating along Main Street.
And new this year, complimentary shuttle service has been added to ease parking complications. Event-goers can park on the campus of ProMedica Flower Hospital and a trolley will shuttle people into downtown Sylvania, operating on a consistent pick-up and drop-off loop. The trolley will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
