Missing: Gabby Petito, Brian Laundrie (Jaden Jefferson)

TOLEDO, Ohio — Gabby Petito went missing while on a cross country road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. Now, both Petito and Laundrie are missing, according to authorities.

The couple’s trip came to an abrupt end in Moab City, Utah, where they were stopped by authorities after a physical altercation. They were ordered to separate for the night to calm tension.

It’s widely reported that Petito’s last known whereabouts were in Grand Teton, Wyoming on August 25, heading towards Yellowstone National Park. Nichole Schmidt, Gabby’s mother, said the last communication she had with her daughter was on August 30th via text, but the family doesn’t believe the text was from Petito.

Laundrie later returned to his parents’ Florida home on September 1st in the van the couple were driving in — but without Gabby.

On September 11th, Gabby’s family reported her missing to the Suffolk County, New York Police Department. Fast forward to now, the family of Brian Laundrie has reported him missing.

“We don’t have a crime, you know. We’re looking for somebody. That’s it,” said North Port Police Department Public Information Officer Josh Taylor.

The Petito family isn’t exactly buying it, writing in a statement: “Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing.”

“These are people that were living off the grid in different areas,” Taylor adds. “I don’t know how frequently he would come out here and do, you know, day-long hikes or whatever. You could be out here for months, if you wanted.”
