TOLEDO, Ohio — Monday, Ohio reported 11,885* new coronavirus cases, 24 deaths and an additional 282 hospitalizations.
According to Gov. Mike DeWine, thousands of tests, which have to be checked to a higher standard than the CDC sets, are still pending because the ODH’s system is overwhelmed, due to an increase of people getting tested for COVID-19.
That means the number of positive coronavirus tests could be higher. But why are the numbers so high today? The governor blames technical difficulties.
“This high jump in cases is caused, at least in part, by technical problems with two labs being unable to report cases for two days. There are also many antigen tests still pending,” DeWine said Monday.
