TOLEDO, Ohio — Early childhood education has been something the city of Toledo has continued to work to improve on. And today, progress was made in ensuring every child comes to kindergarten prepared.

Quality Time Child Care, which currently maintains two locations adjacent to each other on Dorr Street in Toledo, broke ground on a third. This one will serve as a place for school-aged children to learn and grow, while also having fun during the summer.

“After they leave the preschool, they want to come back to Quality Time. This has 10 years in the making, so we’re gonna make it happen for our preschoolers,” said Alethea Easterly, owner and administrator of Quality Time Child Care.

Easterly’s story of getting this far in her journey is one that starts with humble beginnings.

“I started in my home on Pilgrim with six kids,” Easterly explained. “It was a type a, and I turned it into a center. We house 40 children right now, and that’s in the preschool, and in the toddler area, we house 16.”

There’s no word yet on when the third building is expected to be completed, however, it’ll be a needed resource for many. As throughout today’s event, there were plenty of stories from past students at Quality Time, many grateful for the impact it had on their lives.
