Inaugural ‘Glass City JazzFest’ coming to Glass City Metropark in August
The event will be a first in years for the city of Toledo.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo’s rich jazz legacy continues to live on — now in the form of a jazz festival coming later this year!
“Toledo can now be proud to call home the Glass City JazzFest,” said Toledo City Councilwoman At-Large Cerssandra McPherson (D).
The ‘Glass City JazzFest’ will be a one-day festival on Sunday, August 28th at Glass City Metropark, featuring food, local businesses, and of course, great music — from noon to sunset.
The event is free, as Councilwoman McPherson says it’s the city’s ‘thank you’ to taxpayers.
“You’ve worked hard, we’ve made it through the pandemic, now let’s come out and enjoy some good music, fellowship, good food.”
To accompany all of that activity, there’s something in it for our city’s youth.
“We’ll also be able to put money into the scholarship for the young people,” McPherson explained.
With this event having a role in our city’s jazz future, it’s easy to look to the past concerts at International Park, under the leadership of late Toledo mayor Jack Ford.
“I remember those at International- I’m talking to some key persons that were a part of it,” the councilwoman recalled.
