TOLEDO, Ohio — Jefferson Center in downtown Toledo, a former federal post office, may soon be host to multiple businesses. It was already announced that tech startup Bitwise would occupy space in the building, but after today’s announcement, they may soon have neighbors.

Today, the Ohio Development Services Agency and community leaders have announced the facility, as part of a historic preservation, will receive a tax credit. Leaders, including Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, say this tax credit will only promote economic development and result in Toledo becoming a hub for new business, on top of the revitalization of many other buildings, including the ProMedica offices along the Maumee River in downtown Toledo, a former steam plant.

“A building that was built in 1911 has been empty for 20 years and to bring it back to our community… it’s going to be a vibrant addition to the neighborhood,” said ProMedica President & CEO Randy Oostra.
