Bibb, the first Black prime time news anchor in the state of Ohio, is currently an anchor at the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, after working at the ABC affiliate in the same city for over a decade.

The legendary news anchor says it’s great to be back in Bowling Green, this time, to be welcomed into the university’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni, alongside two other honorees.

“It’s always good to be in Bowling Green, this is like a 2nd home for me,” said Bibb. “I give a little bit of my time, my treasure, and my talent, to the university,” he added.

What you may not know about Bibb is that he’s had quite the influence on the popular Black TV personalities we’ve all come to love, including Today Show meteorologist Al Roker.

“Al and I worked together at the NBC station in Cleveland, WKYC, when I first went back to Cleveland, my hometown, when I went there in 1979. And I worked there for about 16 years, and for the first 4 or 5 years, Al Roker and I worked together. In fact, we got together just a few months ago. He came back to Cleveland and we did a special report with him. We had a lot of fun,” said the legendary journalist..

During our interview, Bibb even flipped the script on me! He stretched the importance of good writing, communication and passion in storytelling.
