Local girl battling diabetes donates toys to kids at ProMedica Toledo Hospital
Brossia says she just wants to bring a smile to the faces of those under difficult circumstances.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Today, Cate Brossia, a local girl battling diabetes, held a toy donation in honor of her one-year anniversary of being a patient at ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital. Brossia says that she wants to bring joy to kids who are still being treated at the hospital, as it’s personal to her.
“She’s lived it, right. In her youngest, little life, she’s already lived chronic disease management and she’s empowering herself and she’s in control. And part of that journey is the give back,” says Paula Grieb, Chief Nursing Officer at ProMedica.
“She was diagnosed four days before her seventh birthday, so a year ago this month. And we, and she, we wanted to make sure that she felt like this diagnosis wasn’t so much of a burden, but a blessing for others,” said Cate’s mother, Alicia Brossia.
Brossia donated 407 toys today, the majority of which came from her friends and local church.
