The property, 350 W. Woodruff, is at the center of attention for one group of neighbors.

UPDATE from the city of Toledo:

New orders were issued to both the LLC and Tony Scott, along with the registered agent. The most recent orders were issued about two weeks ago. The current case against the LLC in Muni Court has been stale since last year when the owner/defendant failed to appear through an attorney or representative for either of the arraignments in September 2020. Bench warrants were issued on these cases. New charges should be filed naming the church and the agent with the agent’s address.

Tony Scott’s signature is on the real property conveyance fee statement of value and receipt as the President of Cathedral Ministries, Inc. That was enough proof for us to cite him individually for the nuisance conditions at 350 W. Woodruff.

Previous story:

TOLEDO, Ohio — In early September, I posted a letter sent to theChurch Maumee, also known as The Church On Strayer, regarding a Toledo property they own, which has since become a nuisance.

Now the group of neighbors that drafted that letter are speaking out once again. In an email sent out Friday, the group writes:

On Tuesday September 21 your church, which owns 350 W. Woodruff, released a statement in response to neighbors’ demands saying that you would board the building up within ten days. Boarding it up, which has failed five times, has not been done. Now ten days since the church set a timeline, the structure is still open.

This wouldn’t be acceptable at your campus in Maumee valued at nearly seven million dollars, or in Fremont, valued over $1.6 million. What you value and take care of is clear. You have abandoned this property and make us live with this neglect. The neighbors that must live with this blighted building reiterate our demand to secure and sell this hazardous structure, or demolish it. Boarding the building is insufficient, and more action must be taken.

We have made calls to the church that have not been responded to and will continue to work with those who want something done. We thank the City of Toledo and Lucas County for declaring this a public nuisance and accelerating their work to force the owners of this building, Pastor Tony Scott and others, to act. We intend to keep attention on this until it is resolved.

I will be following up with city officials, as well as the church, to get answers. If you have something you want me to look into, reach out at jadenjeffersonreports@gmail.com.
