Lucas County Mask Mandate Goes Into Affect Tonight at 6pm

Face mask.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Following Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s announcement that Lucas County has entered the red COVID-19 threat level, masks will now be mandatory countywide, starting at 6pm tonight. The red threat level means that there’s increased spread of coronavirus and residents need to be cautious. The only city in the county that mandated masks ahead of the announcement that there’s increased spread of the virus was Toledo.

Note: There are exceptions for people with health issues and children under 10.

When this alert system was first introduced, it was learned that once a county enters the red, masks will be mandatory. When a star is added to the red, that would mean the county is entering the worst alert level, purple.

If a county were to enter the purple, masks would still be required and people would be encouraged to only go out for important reasons or essential services. As of now, Lucas County is not there yet, but if residents don’t wear masks that could easily be the case.
