Maumee Valley Habitat For Humanity holds scaled-down playhouse build
This event is held to support local kids, as well as encourage home ownership at a young age.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Tuesday, Maumee Valley Habitat For Humanity held a scaled-down playhouse build for local families at Highland Meadows Golf Course in Sylvania.
Volunteers from Leadership Toledo, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Olivet Lutheran Church participated in today’s playhouse build, with assistance from seasoned volunteers. Five playhouses were built in total, and the head of today’s build says she looks forward to the moment these playhouses are presented to the 5 deserving families.
“When the families receive the houses, I’m crying, the people who built the houses are crying, the families are crying, and they’re so appreciative. And I always say that is the best part, the very best part, besides I get to call the families and tell them they’ve qualified and we’re going to be building a playhouse for them,” said Bonnie Berland, Special Events Coordinator for Maumee Valley Habitat For Humanity.
Many of the volunteers for today’s event are youth in our community looking to make a difference and get involved.
