Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz to be in Washington, once again, for White House event
Kapszukiewicz will be at the White House as part of a program to highlight how Ohio cities have used federal dollars to build and strengthen their communities.
TOLEDO, Ohio — The event, entitled “Communities in Action: Building a Better Ohio,” will be the first in a series of state-themed meetings hosted by the White House to emphasize the investments made as a result of the American Rescue Act, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act.
Mayor Kapszukiewicz will share how Toledo is using these federal initiatives to replace lead service lines, construct affordable housing, demolish blighted properties, and upgrade police technology, among other investments.
“I look forward to sharing Toledo’s story about how federal dollars have helped our city recover from the COVID pandemic and build upon our recent economic progress,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said in a statement.
The mayor will be joined by roughly a dozen mayors from across Ohio, who will attend meetings with cabinet secretaries and White House officials.
Portions of the program will be live-streamed at 11:45 a.m. You can RSVP here. The mayor will return Wednesday evening.
