Members of the community come together to learn the basics of CPR
The event was free and the organizer says more of them are coming in the near future.
TOLEDO, Ohio — CPR: Most people don’t know it, but who knows, they may have to use it. That is why members of the community came together today to learn the basics of this important practice, which could save a life.
The event was held at Scott High School from noon to 5 and Tashara Brown, the organizer of this community effort, says that there are a few things people need to keep in mind if they intend to learn CPR. She says the first is that it’s important to act fast.
“Our goal today is to make sure everyone understands the severity behind the compressions, the count. And then we have some cool songs and things that we’re going to teach everyone, because depending on size, weight, and height, it can determine how long we may have to push. So we want to keep everyone in rhythm, to keep that heart and the blood pumping, directly through,” said Brown.
Brown tells me that she has additional events in the works, and I’ll be sure to pass the info along once they’re set in stone.
