Naked Break-Ins: The bizarre story from an Oregon excavation business
A suspect has been apprehended, but only after two weeks of strange, discomforting behavior.
OREGON, Ohio —Imagine this: you go into work and, upon a review of security footage, find that someone lingered around the office overnight for about two hours — naked. Well, that’s the case for one Oregon business.
“Don’t tell me you were waiting for your clothes to dry. Nuh-uh. No. You were doin’ a lot of other things — it just don’t make sense.”
Michael Bihn, vice president of Paschal, Bihn & Sons Excavating, says nothing was stolen, but that wasn’t the real problem.
“He was here on my computer, he was watching porn, he was watching idiot cars. I mean, this guy’s looney,” Bihn said.
He alleges that for about two weeks, a man broke into his Oregon business off of Woodville Road — while naked. He says the person’s footprints can be found all over, from the business’ warehouse to an upstairs office.
Not understanding why his business was targeted, Bihn is concerned that this could happen again, with the target being someone’s house.
“If all they’re gonna do is put a slap on his hand, he’s doing it again. And next time it’s going to be somebody’s house,” he said. “It’s sick. It’s sick. His own parents should say it’s sick. We need to get help for him… it’s not normal.”
Michael tells me that the majority of his workforce is male, but for female employees, this is concerning, which is why he is considering additional safety measures.
“A guy like me, if I see him, he’s gonna be hurtin’. But for secretaries, for women, it’s scary.”
The Oregon Police Division has identified and charged Haven Austin Hansel with one count of breaking and entering, with additional charges pending. A detective showed up at the business shortly before I left.
“This is mental. This isn’t just somebody greedy for money. This is mental. And if he don’t get help, somebody’s gonna get hurt,” Bihn warned.
