New This Morning: Former city council candidate now running for state representative
Daniel Ortiz says now is the time for the community to get involved.
TOLEDO, Ohio — A local healthcare worker, who in 2021 ran for a seat on Toledo City Council, is now running for state representative — with a focus on his West Toledo community.
A healthcare worker, Daniel Ortiz describes himself as a “simple guy.” One with no prior political experience, which he says makes him an even better candidate, as he isn’t in constant political circles. Rather he’s embedded in the communities he’d like to represent on the state level.
“I just want to kind of bring more younger people into the process. Kind of show them that we can run for office. You know it’s, in my opinion, time for a new generation of leaders to step and lead our communities. And I think a good way to do that is to actually be in the room where it happens and, you know, get into elected office,” Ortiz said.
