New traveling exhibits coming to the Imagination Station in 2022

The science center says there’s a lot to look forward to in the next year.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Imagination Station will usher in a new year with new, exciting experiences for the community. Beginning in February, a new lineup of traveling exhibits are coming to the science center. They’ll test your limits this winter, challenge your gaming skills in the spring and suprise you with a record-breaking end to 2022.

February 2022 — April: Beyond Human Limits

Do you have what it takes to push harder and go further? Find out in Beyond Human Limits.

You can go inside the minds and bodies of extreme athletes to explore the psychology, physiology and physicality of some of the most extreme activities in the world through hands-on exhibits, interactive multimedia experiences and multiplayer challenges. Visitors will explore the technology, creativity and innovation in extreme sports, while learning what it takes physically and mentally to participate in such extreme challenges. Participants will also learn about your their personality and motivations in the process.

Beyond Human Limits is developed and produced by Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in partnership with the Ontario Science Centre and the Science North and Ontario Science Centre.

May — September: Game Changers

Get your game on and discover how innovation has shaped the video game industry! Game Changers takes visitors on a fascinating journey, exploring the past and uncovering the future of gaming. Game Changers examines how the intersection of audio, storytelling, graphics and gameplay creates the immersive environment of current video gaming systems.

Live the video game evolution, from memorable Pong to the photorealistic, immersive games of today. Step inside a game, and become a character yourself! Try your hand at operating a supersized Nintendo controller and test your knowledge of retro video game music. Experiment with augmented reality, and examine upcoming video game trends while imagining what gaming will look like in the future.

Game Changers is developed by the Canadian Science and Technology Museum.

September — January 2023: The Science of Guinness World Records

How does one develop the ability to do 36 consecutive pull-ups, using only their pinky fingers? What does it take for someone to create the world’s smallest stop motion film? What possesses someone to learn how to solve not one but three Rubik’s Cubes simultaneously?

It’s not magic, it’s science!

The Science of the Guinness World Records looks behind the marvels of Guinness World Records to see what’s behind record-breaking feats and that includes physical or mental thresholds humans possess and the scientific principles that explain them. You won’t believe what goes into accomplishing what is seemingly impossible.
