ODH: Ohio reports 5,874 new COVID-19 cases, 76 deaths Wednesday

TOLEDO, Ohio — Ohio reported 5,874 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, ahead of Gov. Mike DeWine’s address to Ohioans about the upward trend in cases.

The 21-day case average stands at 3,779 and it’s much higher than Ohio had seen in September, when the state was averaging 1,000 cases per day with a positivity rate of 3%. The state’s current positivity rate is 7%.

76 additional deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The 21-day average for deaths is 23.

COVID-19-related hospitalizations fell to 253. The 21-day average across the state is 179. 36 people were admitted to an ICU, with a 21-day average of 23.
