ODOT preparing early for winter snowfall
Those with ODOT District 2 say you’ll be seeing their crews out on the roads very soon.
TOLEDO, Ohio — As is the case every year, ODOT is preparing early for the winter season, getting plows prepared, salt ready, and ensuring some major construction projects, like the I-75 reconstruction through downtown, continue.
Rebecca Dangelo, public information officer for ODOT District 2, says plow drivers are looking forward to hitting area highways this winter.
“Our snow plow drivers are super excited. They love snow and ice season and they love being out there plowing. They’re really looking forward to, we had a couple teases so far, but they’re really looking forward to some actual winter weather,” said Dangelo.
Dangelo adds that when you begin seeing ODOT’s plows on the roads, remember to give them space and be courteous.
“We always say, and people are kind of used to the saying, don’t crowd the plow. But we really want to remind people of that. These trucks are giant and they’re going a lot slower than normal speeds. So we really need people to be paying attention to them; give them room to work,” she said.
But will those major construction projects, like the reconstruction of I-75, continue through the winter? According to Dangelo, it depends.
“It is kind of dependent on the project. Some of our larger scale projects, like I-75, that one will still have some work that happens over the winter. For example, we’ll have some bridge beam settings that are coming up, because that can be done. But a lot of our operations are very weather dependent and need those warmer temperatures,” she added.
