Ohio Controlling Board approves funds to aid Ohio’s COVID-19 recovery
COVID-19 still remains a challenge for the state, but lawmakers hope these funds will help speed-up the state’s recovery from the March lockdown.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Monday, the Ohio Controlling Board approved funds to further aid Ohio’s response to the health and economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as programs addressing homelessness and foster care.
Lawmakers on Monday approved the use of federal CARES Act funds to offset the costs incurred by the following state agencies and programs amid the COVID-19 pandemic:
· $150 million in federal disaster relief to the Ohio Dept. of Public Safety
· $22.6 million to the Dept. of Higher Education to aid Ohio’s colleges and universities
· $6.2 million to the Ohio Dept. of Rehabilitation and Correction
· $5 million to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office
· $2 million to the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources
· $1.2 million to the Ohio History Connection to support educational initiatives.
· $12.6 million to the Ohio Housing Finance Agency to fund the Housing Development Assistance Program
$415,000 to the Coalition on Homelessness in Ohio
$115,000 to the Ohio Community Development Corporation Association
$47 million to the Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services from a federal reimbursement to cover maintenance and administrative costs of foster care
