Ohio Vax-2-School registration opens Monday

Vax-2-School

TOLEDO, Ohio — Registration for Ohio’s Vax-2-School vaccine incentive opens Monday in the hopes of getting more younger Ohioans vaccinated.

Ohioans ages 12–25 can enter to win one of 150 $10,000 scholarships, or one of five $100,000 grand prize scholarships. The scholarships, awarded in Ohio 529 College Advantage plans, can be used at any Ohio college, university, technical/trade school, or career program of the winner’s choice. The incentive is being funded through the ODH’s COVID relief funds.

According to the office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, spread of COVID-19 is the highest among young and unvaccinated Ohioans. That, he says, is why it’s important to get all Ohioans vaccinated, so we can put an end to this long pandemic. A sentiment Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff echoes.

“This is an important component to helping us move past the pandemic,” said Vanderhoff.

Vanderhoff stresses that preliminary data shows Pfizer’s vaccine is safe and effective for kids ages 5–11, which is why when the shot is finally approved for that age bracket, parents should begin the vaccination process.

“That top line data showed the vaccine is safe, and generated robust antibody responses in that 5–11 age bracket,” he added.

To enter your student into the vaccine lottery online, visit ohiovax2school.com or by phone at 1–833–4-ASK-ODH (1–833–427–5634).

As for when these drawings could begin, that information has yet to be released.
