Old West End Autumn Market brings hundreds out on beautiful Saturday

TOLEDO, Ohio — Saturday was the perfect day for the Old West End Autumn Market, which features local vendors, food, and music. The event is put on by neighbors in the Old West End to promote local business, while also bringing the community together.
One woman came from Dayton, Ohio, as she has a friend who lives in the neighborhood.
“It’s the heart and soul of a community. Things that people make, things that people keep and use and resell. It has a lot of history and love in it. I appreciate that. And stuff gets recycled, especially at an event like this, so I like that,” said Anna Singer.
One business owner says she relies heavily on events like these, because they help her gain exposure in the community, which is crucial to the success of a local business.
“For small businesses, if you don’t have enough foot traffic coming in and word of mouth and going to different events like this, your business is not going to be known and you will, basically, die. Your business will just go under because you don’t have that support and that networking and foot traffic,” said Tyechia Carson.
According to organizers, there were well over 60 vendors at today’s event. Plenty of artists had their work up for sale, local nonprofits had information tables set up to provide the community with valuable information, and neighbors held individual garage sales.
