One-on-one with Mayoral Candidate Carty Finkbeiner (D) | Election 2021
Mayoral Candidate Carty Finkbeiner had a lot to say during our lengthy discussion, including his thoughts on gun violence and plan to address it, as well as his criticisms of the current administration.
TOLEDO, Ohio — This morning, I went one-on-one with former Toledo mayor turned mayoral candidate, Carty Finkbeiner, at his South Toledo home to discuss his run for mayor — again.
When asked about concerns regarding his age, Finkbeiner responded:
“I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this, but I could probably run circles around the incumbent mayor, who’s, well, quite a bit younger than I am.”
Finkbeiner went as far as to compare himself to Tina Turner, Cher and Dolly Parton, saying no one has questioned their talent abilities because of their age.
Finkbeiner adds that he’s done a lot as a private citizen, including preventing the sale of UTMC to ProMedica.
He says that Toledo has become two different cities: one of the rich and affluent, and one of the impoverished and forgotten.
