Solheim Cup economic impact measured at $40 million

Toledo broke the attendance record for the major women’s golf tournament.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo City Council’s Regional Growth, Development and Small Business Enterprise Committee has received a report from Destination Toledo and the LPGA regarding the economic impact of this year’s Solheim Cup Golf Tournament and other events Labor Day weekend.

Using a professional sports model to calculate spending of the attendees, the economic impact of the 2021 Solheim Cup at Inverness Club was measured at $40 million and over $900,000 in local taxes.

“I am extremely proud of the record-breaking Solheim Cup Toledo hosted. Our residents and visitors enjoyed every aspect of this amazing event,” said Toledo Mayor Kapszukiewicz. “With $40 million in economic impact, we will continue the positive momentum for years to come.”
