theChurch Maumee drops thousands of eggs as part of Easter celebration
The event was a major success!
MAUMEE, Ohio — “This is a community event that we do every year, free for the community,” said Melony Bradley, executive pastor of theChurch Maumee.
As Saturday, the church held its annual Easter egg drop, where 75,000 candy-filled easter eggs dropped from a helicopter flying above.
“It’s one of my favorite events, because if you’ve never seen a helicopter drop eggs from the sky before, it’s pretty amazing and the kids get so excited. So far, like with our pre-registrations, it totally actually exceeded last year’s pre-registrations,” Bradley added.
Many of the families in attendance agreed it was a fun event, and that they will be back next year.
“It was great. This is our second year and we had a good time. Lots of eggs, great music. This year all of the cousins came out, so it was good,” said Angela Linares, who brought her whole family, including her mom and young son.
“My experience was fantastic. I brought all my family: my two daughters and my husband. We had a great time,” said Vashti Wilburn.
The church also has a number of Easter services set for Sunday, and encourages the community to join them.
“The kids have their own service. And the Easter message is taught to them in a way that they can understand. It’s very illustrated, with pictures and videos- very simple for them. And there’s also a chance for them to win cash, which I think is also very exciting,” Bradley expressed.
The kids who joined in on today’s festivities echo her exact thoughts.
“I’m also excited because this is just an awesome event because so many kids come here just to learn about Jesus, and come for the egg drop too,” said Alexander Duderar.
The church was well prepared for the event, utilizing pre-registration numbers to help craft the ideal egg drop.
