Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz Orders Curfew For Downtown Area

City aims to find ways to protect residents & businesses within downtown Toledo.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz has ordered a curfew for the downtown Toledo area after protests turned violent.

“The curfew applies to the area bounded by Summit Street, Monroe Street, 17th Street, Franklin Avenue, East Woodruff Avenue, and Cherry Street.”

The city said in a press release that the goal of the curfew is to keep people safe.

To ensure the safety of Toledo residents and businesses, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz has ordered a curfew effective 9 p.m. today, May 30 until 6 a.m. May 31.

This curfew WILL be enforced by the Toledo Police Department. If you are caught out illegally, you will be arrested.

Toledo Municipal Code 509.10 grants the mayor the authority to issue a curfew. The mayor issued the curfew by proclamation, pursuant to the city code. It will be enforced by Toledo Police.
