Toledo mourns the loss of Officer Brandon Stalker through candlelight vigil
The late officer’s funeral is being planned for next week.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Police Officer Brandon Stalker, 24, was shot and killed on the night of January 18th, while on the scene of a barricaded gunman.
On Tuesday night, friends, family and strangers paid their respects to the late Officer Brandon Stalker at Whitmer High School, where he graduated.
During a news conference Monday, the night of the shooting, Toledo Police Chief George Kral described the solemn feeling that hangs over the department, only 6 months after the line-of-duty death of Officer Anthony Dia on July 4th,, and the unexpected, Thanksgiving death of Officer Kevin Dumas.
“Very sad day for the city of Toledo and specifically the Toledo police department,” Kral said. “He was an amazing police officer.”
Present at Tuesday’s vigil was the father of the late Officer Anthony Dia, Tony Dia.
Tuesday night’s candlelight vigil is a precursor to Officer Stalker’s funeral, which is planned for sometime next week.
