Toledo’s Labor Day Parade: What you can expect, according to organizers
Organizers expect parade turnout to rebound this year.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Organizers of Toledo’s Labor Day Parade say the event will be back in “full force” this year.
The parade is an annual event that celebrates the achievements of organized labor in Northwest Ohio. Organizers expect that after COVID-19 canceled 2020’s event, and hampered last year’s, the community will show up for all those in participation.
“For this year, I think it’s going to be truly special in the fact that — you know — obviously, the pandemic is still a concern, but I think now that everybody’s vaccinated, what have you, and there’s some protocols, I think this is going to be truly unique because we’re gonna have a parade that’s back to normal,” said Scott Noonan, chair of the Toledo Labor Day Parade.
Noonan adds that this year’s event will partly be an educational experience about vehicles used in a variety of fields.
“We’re going to have a vehicle, kind of, show-off or an exhibit for working families and their kids to go to certain vehicles and kind of see the vehicles and allow the workers to, kind of, talk about what they do typically on the job,” Noonan explained.
The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. on Labor Day morning, at the corner of Summit & Monroe streets in downtown Toledo. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur will serve as grand marshal.
