TPS, ProMedica partner for the future of medicine in NW Ohio
The school is set to open next year.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Public Schools and ProMedica are partnering for what could be the future of medicine here in Northwest Ohio. The two will, in 2022, enroll 72 students in what will be known as the Toledo Pre-Medical and Health Science Academy.
The school will focus on biomedical science, pre-medicine, pre-nursing and other health science fields. At the academy, students will have the opportunity, once they graduate, to begin an entry-level career in the medical field or choose to attend college and further their education.
The district says its partnership with ProMedica will provide educational opportunities, mentorship, internships and thought leadership to the students and school administration. It adds that the partnership will also ensure the academy remains in line with current and changing job markets.
The school will be located on Upton Avenue at the current site of the Toledo Technology Academy. The academy is looking to fill 72 seats for its first class, the class of 2026. For more on enrollment, call 419-671-3400 or visit tps.org.
