TOLEDO, Ohio — If you frequent Nebraska Avenue near downtown Toledo, you’ve likely had to make a detour when attempting to get downtown.

The Nebraska Avenue bridge over I-75 has been closed for a few months as ODOT is in the process of reconstructing it. The project is nearing completion, with ODOT having set April 29 of next year as the bridge’s reopening date.

Rebbeca Dangelo, public information officer for ODOT District 2, says that some projects will continue through the winter, while others won’t.

As for this project, Dangelo says work will continue during the cold winter months. She adds that January 15 through the 16th, from midnight to 6 a.m., ODOT will be closing I-75 underneath Nebraska Avenue for beam setting. ODOT typically doesn’t close interstates, but according to Dangelo, this will be the safest, most efficient way to set the beams.

But until work on the new bridge is completed, you’ll have to detour by taking Dorr St. or Collingwood Boulevard.
