UTMC Now Has The Capabilities To Test For COVID-19
TOLEDO, Ohio — According to a press release from the University of Toledo, UTMC now has the resources to test for the coronavirus. This should relieve stress on the local hospitals.
“Testing supplies are still limited and we have to be strategic about how we deploy our resources,” said Mo Smith, associate vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at UTMC. “However, by working with our community partners, we can significantly increase the pace of testing in northwest Ohio as we work to fight this dangerous virus.”
The lab can test up to 180 samples per day, and will only test people who are recommended for testing by the Lucas County Department of Health.
Once again, only people who need to be tested will be tested. There are limited resources at this time.
